University of Toronto Scientific Instruments Collection visit, Sunday September 15th9:20-9:30am - Meet at first collection location on the University of Toronto's St George campus in downtown Toronto with Curator Erich Weidenhammer and Assistant Curator Victoria Fisher. There will be a secure place provided for people to leave their luggage throughout the visit.
9:30 - Chance to view selected post-war artifacts from the Toronto collection and hear about ongoing collections activities focused on recent and contemporary artifacts.
10:10 – Walk as group to second collection location.
10:20 - Meet at McLennan Physical Laboratories (60 St George Street), in the main foyer to view the main collections' storage areas, including the large collection of acoustic instruments by Rudolph Koenig, the collections of the Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, medical and surgical collections, and others.
11:10 - Visit to storage areas ends. Chance to retrieve luggage.
11:20 - Optional: Gather at McLennan Physical Laboratories (60 St George Street) in the main foyer for campus tour featuring the University's early scientific history as the site of Canada's Magnetic and Meteorological Observatory, part of the 1839 global network of magnetic observatories.
12:00 - Tour ends at Meteorological Observatory at 315 Bloor Street West. Chance to retrieve luggage from first location.
